Leaflet distribution costs in Surrey, explained

If you are budgeting for a leaflet campaign in Surrey, it helps to know how the price is worked out. Leaflet distribution is priced per 1,000 leaflets delivered, and the rate depends on the type of drop, the area and the size of the campaign. Once you understand those three things, a quote becomes much easier to read, and much easier to compare with others.

This guide walks through our starting prices, what moves a price up or down, how to work out a rough budget for yourself, and the mistakes that make a cheap campaign turn out to be an expensive one.

Leaflet Media Surrey prices

These are our starting prices:

  • Shared distribution: from £80 per 1,000

  • Solus distribution: from £110 per 1,000

  • Menu distribution: from £115 per 1,000

  • Magazine distribution: from £180 per 1,000

  • Business to business distribution: from £150 per 500

These are starting points rather than fixed prices. The final figure depends on where you want to deliver and what you are delivering, which is why we quote each campaign individually. The full breakdown is on our leaflet distribution prices page.

What affects the price

Shared or solus. A shared drop delivers your leaflet alongside non-competing leaflets, so it costs less. A solus drop delivers your leaflet on its own, so it gets more attention.

The area. Surrey has everything from busy town centres to rural villages with long driveways. Spread-out areas take longer to cover, and we will tell you when we quote.

The item. Menus and magazines are heavier and take longer to deliver, which is why they cost more.

Contracts. Payment is due in advance, unless you sign a contract of at least six months.

Why the area matters so much in Surrey

The same number of leaflets can take very different amounts of time to deliver depending on where they are going. A round of terraced streets and flats near the centre of Woking or Guildford has front doors close together, so a distributor moves quickly from one letterbox to the next.

Commuter towns such as Weybridge, Cobham or Ashtead often have larger detached houses set back from the road. Rural areas around Cranleigh and Haslemere can include lanes where homes are spread out and every door means a walk up a long driveway. Those rounds take longer, and the price reflects the time involved rather than just the number of leaflets.

How long a round takes

A distributor typically covers around 1,000 properties in a 7 to 8 hour day. If a quote seems far too low for that amount of work, ask how the delivery will be checked. Every Leaflet Media round is GPS tracked.

That figure is also useful for planning. If you want 5,000 homes covered in a single week, you can see roughly how many distributor days that involves, and why a very short deadline may need more people on the ground.

Working out a rough budget

Here is a hypothetical example to show how the numbers fit together. These figures use our starting prices only, and your actual quote may differ.

Imagine a gardening business that wants to reach 4,000 homes in a commuter town. A shared drop at the starting price of £80 per 1,000 would begin at around £320 for distribution. The same 4,000 homes as a solus drop, at the starting price of £110 per 1,000, would begin at around £440. The difference buys a leaflet that lands on its own, without other leaflets competing for attention on the doormat.

If the same business also needs the leaflets printed, that is priced separately. Print prices depend on size, paper, finish and quantity, and print orders come with free delivery and no minimum order. See our leaflet printing page.

Step by step: getting an accurate quote

  • Decide which towns, neighbourhoods or postcodes you want to reach.

  • Work out roughly how many homes you want to cover, or ask us to count them for you.

  • Choose shared or solus, or ask which suits your offer.

  • Tell us what you are delivering, whether that is a flyer, a folded leaflet, a menu or a magazine.

  • Give us your preferred dates and any deadline, such as an opening day or an event.

  • Let us know if you need printing too, so we can quote for the whole job.

Common mistakes when budgeting

Choosing on price alone. The cheapest quote is only good value if the leaflets actually reach the doors. Ask every supplier how they check delivery.

Spreading too thin. A small budget spread across a whole county rarely does as well as the same budget used on the streets closest to your customers.

Forgetting the print. Distribution and printing are separate costs, so budget for both if you do not already have leaflets.

Leaving it too late. A rushed campaign can mean fewer options on dates and areas. Allow time for printing and for planning the rounds.

One drop and done. Many businesses plan more than one drop to the same area. If you expect to run campaigns regularly, ask about a contract of at least six months, which removes the need to pay in advance.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to pay before the leaflets are delivered?

Yes, payment is due in advance, unless you sign a contract of at least six months.

Is solus always better than shared?

Not always. Solus gets more attention because your leaflet arrives on its own, while shared costs less.

Why does a rural area cost more?

Homes in rural villages are further apart, often with long driveways, so each leaflet takes longer to deliver. We will tell you when we quote.

Can I check that my leaflets were delivered?

Yes. Every round is GPS tracked and our teams are supervised. Read more about our GPS tracked leaflet distribution.
